Four insurers for 2027, and two leaving
The Indiana Department of Insurance lists four insurers selling 2027 plans on HealthCare.gov: AmeriHealth Caritas Indiana, Anthem, Coordinated Care Corporation and UnitedHealthcare. Coordinated Care is the only one filed in all 92 counties. Anthem covers 85, UnitedHealthcare grows from 5 counties to 36, and AmeriHealth Caritas is new to the Indiana Marketplace in 7.
Cigna and CareSource won’t sell Indiana Marketplace plans in 2027. If either one covers you now, pick a new plan by December 15 so it starts January 1.12

- 36 counties, up from 5
Heads up: Offered an Indiana Marketplace plan from an insurer that isn’t one of the four above? The Department of Insurance asks you to report it to the Indiana Attorney General.

What full price looks like before a tax credit
Insurers asked for an average rise of 19.7% for 2027, and the state approved 17.5%. The state also publishes each insurer’s average monthly premium across all its metal levels, before any tax credit. These are averages, not your price: your age, county and plan move the number, and with income between the HIP line and 4 times the poverty level, a tax credit may lower it.1
HIP: Medicaid for adults, with a POWER account
Hoosiers 19 to 64 with income under 138% of the poverty level ($22,025 for one person) are covered by the Healthy Indiana Plan, HIP. Most members put $1 to $20 a month into a POWER account, more for smokers. That buys HIP Plus, which adds vision, dental and chiropractic care and has no copays except for a non-emergency ER visit.
Under the poverty line, a member who doesn’t pay drops to HIP Basic, with copays for most care and no vision, dental or chiropractic. Above it, skipping the contribution removes you from HIP. HIP members choose Anthem, CareSource or MHS as their health plan, and can switch for next year by calling 877-GET-HIP-9 between November 1 and December 15. Children qualify for Indiana’s children’s coverage up to 255% of the poverty level.3456

HIP work requirements from January 1, 2027
Who it affects: HIP members and applicants aged 19 to 64 who aren’t pregnant and aren’t enrolled in or eligible for Medicare.
Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) will ask for 80 hours a month of work, half-time school, an apprenticeship, a work program or volunteering, in any mix. The state checks every three months, and HIP renews every six.
You’re excused for a month if, on at least one day of it, you care for a child 13 or younger or a person with a disability, are pregnant or within 12 months after, are medically frail, are in drug or alcohol treatment, already follow SNAP or TANF work rules, or meet another listed exemption. FSSA runs an anonymous pre-screening tool at hipworkscreen.in.gov. Report changes within 10 days at FSSABenefits.IN.gov or by calling DFR at 1-800-403-0864.78
