Two layers of help paying
If you buy through Connect for Health Colorado, the federal tax credit and Colorado’s state-based premium subsidies can work together to lower your monthly premium. Financial help is for people up to 4 times the poverty level, $109,280 a year for a family of three.
If you qualify for Health First Colorado (Medicaid) or CHP+, you can’t get this help on a Marketplace plan, and an offer of affordable job-based coverage also rules it out.32
A family of three
For a family of three, Health First Colorado for the adults reaches about $37,700 a year, and children qualify up to about $72,400 through Health First Colorado and CHP+.56
New in 2027: Health First Colorado work rules
Who it affects: Health First Colorado adults aged 19 to 64.
From January 1, 2027, many Health First Colorado adults aged 19 to 64 need to show work or other approved activities, about 80 hours a month or $580 in earnings, or an exemption, when they apply or renew. Some of them will also renew every six months instead of every year.7
What to do: Open every Health First Colorado letter, and call us if a renewal notice arrives.
